Rotary Club honors Rodgers The Eupora Rotary Club honored Eupora High School senior Katelyn Rodgers as Rotary Student of the Month on April 3. She chose EHS Counselor Monica Cummings as Teacher of the Month. At Eupora High, Rodgers is a member of the Biology Club (secretary), Interact Club, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Annual Staff (assistant editor) and Future Educators of America (vice president). She is also an office assistant. Her achievements include being a Homecoming maid, Class Favorite, EHS Most Beautiful, class reporter, varsity cheerleader, Who’s Who Most Dependable, merit student and a six-year letterman A member of the Eupora Lady Eagle softball team for seven years and a varsity player for six years, Rodgers played in the fastpitch state championship and played catcher in the slowpitch state championship in 2007. She also played left field in the 2009 North Half championship. Additionally, she was All-District in slowpitch in 2010 and 2011, had the team’s highest batting average in 2011 and played in the All-Star slowpitch softball game in Decatur in 2012. Rodgers plans to attend Mississippi State University to major in kinesiology and further her education in occupational therapy.
School Board honors Darce The Webster County School Board handled various matters on March 20, according to minutes of the meeting: Superintendent of Education Jack Treloar introduced East Webster High School student Jennifer Darce was introduced as the Webster County Board of Education Student of the Month for March. Also, the School Board approved/accepted these items as a part of the Consent Agenda: • the disposal of and removal from inventory of non-working items. • the resignation of Curtis Ford as Eupora High School’s girls basketball coach effective May 23. • a fundraiser for the EWHS bowling team. The board also approved the February docket of claims. Scott Hollenhead (District 4) was absent.
