A Webster County man was killed Monday afternoon in an accident on his property involving a tractor, officials said. The victim was identified as Doyle Jones, 67, of 3090 Webster-Lodi Road. County Coroner Steve Wells said he was last seen around mid- afternoon. A neighbor, who heard Jones’ tractor running in what seemed to be the same spot for a long period, later became concerned, went to check on him and found his body, said Wells. “It appears he was working on his tractor, and apparently he was standing in front of the rear tire, and it started in gear and ran over him,” Wells said. “It strictly appeared to be an accident.” Tomnolen emergency medical responders, EMS from North Mississippi Medical Center-Eupora and the Webster County Sheriff’s Department responded when the incident was reported to 911 shortly after 4 p.m. Jones was pronounced dead at the scene, according to Wells. Sheriff Tim Mitchell said Agent Freddie Pate with the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation looked into the accident. Oliver Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
