John Denney March 29, 2012 Services for John Denney, 91, of Bay Springs were April 1, 2012, at Oliver Funeral Home Chapel in Eupora with the Rev. Willy Weddle officiating. Burial was in Clarkson Cemetery. He was born Jan. 26, 1921. Mr. Denney was a retired tool and die man. He was a member of New Home Baptist Church in Bay Springs and a Marine Corps veteran. Mr. Denney died March 29, 2012, at the VA Nursing Home in Collins. Survivors include his wife, Mary Alice Denney of Bay Springs; two daughters, Brenda Kay Bland of Houston, Texas, and Alice Faye Stringer of Bay Springs; three sons, John Denney Jr. of Greenville, Darrell Denney of Ridgeland and Walter Denney of Richland; nine grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Maston Levi Prewitt March 22, 2012 Services for the Rev. Maston Levi Prewitt, 87, of Eupora were March 24, 2012, at Lebanon United Methodist Church with the Revs. Trey Harper, Jeep Pepper, Doyle Ray Mitchell and Raleigh Richter officiating. An internment memorial service followed at Adaton United Methodist Church with the Revs. Buddy Bayless, John Yeates, Gerald Gammill and Byrd Hillman officiating He was born Jan. 5, 1925, in Choctaw County to the late William and Viola Ray Prewitt. The Rev. Prewitt served his country in World War II and was a POW in Germany. He was a United Methodist minister in Mississippi for more than 50 years. The Rev. Prewitt died March 22, 2012, at his home after a stroke and repeated hospital stays resulting from pneumonia. Survivors include his wife, China Ray Prewitt; two sons, Stephen Prewitt and Nathan Prewitt; four daughters, Gloria Warren, Rebecca Doyle, Barbara Bennett and Rachel Blankenship; three sisters, Opal Smith, Mildred Andol and Martha Crimm; 15 grandchildren and 12 great- grandchildren. Pallbearers were the Rev. Prewitt’s grandchildren: Jonathan Prewitt, Adam Prewitt, Jay Prewitt, Kelly Blankenship, Josh Prewitt, Wes Cummings, Chesley Warren, Chris Henry and Tim Blankenship. Glyndal Yeatman March 27, 2012 Services for Glyndal Yeatman, 70, of Louisville were March 31, 2012, at Coleman Funeral Home in Ackerman with the Revs. Kevin Black and Jason Green officiating. Burial was in South Union Cemetery near Ackerman. She was born Dec. 15, 1941, in Choctaw County. Mrs. Yeatman was retired from Motor Guide and was a property sitter. She died March 27, 2012, at Winston Medical center Nursing Home in Louisville. Survivors include a son, Butch Nowacki of Sturgis; a daughter, Teresa Holbrooks of Clearwater, Fla., a brother, Lyndal Black of McCool; a sister, Helen Fulgham of Ackerman; six grandchildren and nine great- grandchildren. Mr. Dalton Moore

Mr. Dalton Moore, 78, passed away Tuesday, March 27, 2012 at North Mississippi Medical Center – Tupelo in Tupelo, MS. Visitation was held at 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Friday, March 30, 2012 at Oliver Funeral Home, Eupora, MS. Funeral services were held Saturday, March 31, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Oliver Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Carl Nickels officiating. Interment was at Hebron Cemetery at Webster Co. MS. Mr. Moore was a retired factory employee and a member of Hebron Baptist Church at Webster Co. MS. He is survived by one daughter, Brinda (Larry) Green, Eupora, MS; one son, Larry (Sheryl) Moore, Wasilla, Alaska; one brother, Leon (Myrtle) Moore, Carthage, MS; four grandchildren, Gayden (Chrissy) Green, Brian Green, Brandan Moore, Shayla Moore; one great-granddaughter, Skyla Green. Virginia Marion Dalton

Virginia Marion Dalton, 91, resident of Sterling House, widow of Thomas H. Dalton, died April 1, 2012 at NHC Healthcare of Greenwood. Born in Houston, MS, November 2, 1920, she was a daughter of the late Edward S. and Katie Corrine Burns Marion. She was a graduate of Houston High School and retired from Wilson Department Store in Eupora, MS, after forty-three years service. Formerly of Eupora, she had made her home in Greenwood since 2006. Mrs. Dalton was a member of the First Baptist Church in Eupora, where she taught in the Children’s Sunday School for many years. Surviving are a son, Eddie Dalton and wife, Dot of Greenwood; daughter, Becky Chisolm and husband, David of Lexington, MS; ten grandchildren; twenty-one great-grandchildren; and two great-great- grandchildren. She was predeceased by a sister, Margaret M. “Peggy” Olson and a great grandson, Taylor Sargent. Funeral services were conducted at 2:00 PM Wednesday from the Blyth Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Tony Hopkins officiating. Graveside services will be conducted at 3:00 PM Friday in the Eupora City Cemetery, Eupora, MS, with Reverend Richard Jennings officiating. Pallbearers will be grandsons, Thomas David Chisolm, Bradley Roy Chisolm and Timothy Lee Chisolm, along with Ted Wilson. The family is at the home of Eddie and Dot Dalton, 408 Colonial Drive in Belle Meade and received friends at the funeral home from 1-2 PM Wednesday. Thomas Albert Latham

Thomas Albert Latham age 88 died Wednesday, March 28, 2012 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Columbus. Services were held Saturday, March 31, 2012 at 11:00 AM at Lebanon United Methodist Church in 1118 Lebanon Road Eupora, MS, with Rev. Guss Shelly and Rev. Raleigh Richter officiating. Burial was at the church cemetery. Visitation began two hours prior to service at the church. Gunter and Peel Funeral Home in Columbus was in charge of arrangements. Mr. Latham was born on Friday, November 16, 1923 in Webster County, MS to the late Henry Clifford and Mabel Tot Lamb Latham. He was a lifelong member of Lebanon United Methodist Church where he served as song director, Sunday School Teacher, chairperson of 2 building projects, was a delegate to the annual conference for 60 years, served on the Pastor Parish Relations Committee, Trustees, Administrative Board, and was the current chairman of the Lebanon UMC Cemetery fund. Mr. Latham was a 35 year member of the Lions Club, and Sons of the American Revolution. He was also instrumental in compiling and editing a book on the History of Webster County. Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Flora Bettie Gammill Latham; one daughter, Lynette L. McDougald, and her husband Rev. Ron McDougald of Starkville, MS; grandchildren, Rebecca McDougald and her fiancé Tom Bennitt, of Oxford, MS, Robert McDougald of New Orleans, LA, Beth McDougald and Eric Cranford, of Starkville, MS. Mr. Cecil Bowen Eupora, MS

Mr. Cecil Bowen, 83, passed away Wednesday, March 28, 2012 at North Ms. Medical Center in Eupora. He had been a resident of Golden Living Center for two years. Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, March 30th at the Eupora First Baptist Church. Rev. Travis Gray officiated with burial in the Sapa Cemetery in Webster County. Cecil was born June 12, 1928 to Grace Sealy Bowen and Roy Cecil Bowen of the Sapa Community. He was a lifelong resident of Webster County, and a member of the First Baptist Church. After graduating from Eupora High School in 1946 he worked with his father on the dairy farm until establishing his own business in 1950 – “Bowen’s Dairy Products and Dairy Bar”. Cecil served briefly in the U.S. Army, training as a paratrooper in the 11th Airborne Division. He enjoyed gardening, hunting, fishing, and cooking for family, friends, deer camps, church groups, fund raisers, and other community activities. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Helen Yarborough Bowen, Eupora, MS; two daughters, Barbara B. (Van) Goodman, Meridian, MS, and Donna B. (Jay) Cummins, Flowood, MS; four grandchildren, Grace and Adie Goodman and Nathan and Joshua Cummins; three brothers, Robert (Martha) Bowen, Waynesboro, MS, Roy Glenn “Buddy” Bowen and Charles “Dinky” (Marilyn) Bowen both of Eupora, MS; two sisters, Mary Ann (Charles) Smith and Patsy (Chuck) Sexton both of Eupora, MS; two aunts, Ouida Bowen Calloway, Baton Rogue, LA, and Earlean Bowen, Eupora, MS; and a host of nieces, nephews and dear friends. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Billy Joe and John Bowen both of Eupora, MS. Pallbearers were Joe Duncan, Jerry Gary, Tommy Gladney, Stan Hodges, Pat Hyde and Jimmy McCain.
