Downing to appear  at local churches

From Press Reports

Ann Downing, a popular soloist on the Gaither Homecoming video series, will be making appearances at two local churches on Friday and Sunday. She will be singing at Soul’s Haven Church on Good Friday at 6:30 p.m. and will appear Easter Sunday in the Clarkson community at Clarkson Baptist Church. The concert at CBC is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. Celebrating worldwide broadcast success, including the No. 1 spot on Billboard Magazine’s chart for video sales (surpassing all other categories and genres of music), Downing has been included in almost all of the “Gaither Homecoming” video tapings since their original success in 1991. “Reunion,” the second video released, is dedicated to the memory of Paul Downing, who appears on the video but passed away unexpectedly before the release date. Ann Downing’s career as a successful Christian recording artist has taken her from childhood on the family cotton farm in rural Bruce to many of the nation’s largest venues, including Carnegie Hall, the Crystal Cathedral and the Billy Graham Crusade in Nashville. Ann Downing Ministries is also home to the Ms. Lillie Project, a service ministry to nursing homes, the goal of which is to provide televisions, DVD players and Gaither Homecoming videos to facilities across the country. In addition, Ann Downing Ministries also helps to host Downing’s Middle Tennessee Women’s Retreat. MTWR is an annual event held in the Nashville area each spring and is open to women regardless of age or denominational ties. “We invite everyone to come and celebrate our risen Savior during this Easter season,” said the Rev. James F. Caffey, pastor of Soul’s Haven. The church is located 3 miles north of Grady at 808 Grady Road, which is west of Eupora off U.S. 82. For directions or more information, contact Caffey at 258-3156 or 552-0442. For more information regarding Downing’s appearance at Clarkson Baptist on Sunday, contact the pastor of CBC at 258-8579.
