Progress made at EWHS campus in Cumberland

From School, Staff Reports

Progress is being made on the campus of East Webster High School in Cumberland. The original auditorium building and the office building, which were badly damaged in the tornado of April 27, have now been demolished. After removal of the remaining debris, the construction process will continue on that area. The campus also now has four new tennis courts and a new dugout on the baseball field. With the spring season now here, hopes are high that progress toward the new and improved campus will accelerate accordingly. School district officials have said that actual construction is expected to be completed within 18 months of a bid being awarded for new school construction. Gary Bailey is the project architect. The former Wood College campus in Mathiston is serving as East Webster High’s temporary location.
