MABEN — Larry’s Restaurant kicked off is Mother’s Day gift basket raffle Tuesday. The basket items, which are valued at $250, were donated by Larry’s Restaurant and their employees. Marie Sims Landon and Evelyn Weeks are responsible for spearheading efforts to give back to the community through this project. Tickets are priced at $1 each; they may be purchased at the checkout desk only at Larry’s beginning Saturday and will be sold through April 15. The drawing for the basket will be at high noon on Mother’s Day, April 15. Employees of the restaurant are not eligible to participate in the raffle, nor will they be selling tickets except at the checkout desk. Proceeds from the raffle will be awarded to East Webster High School to use in whatever it deems fit. According to Principal Bill Brand, the school is projected to reopen its doors in August 2013. These items are in the basket: $100 gift card, boxes of candy, three- piece overnight set, bath products, stuffed animal, jewelry set, lotions, books, plaques, candle holder, lamp, notebook, insulated cup, plus the decorated basket itself. Help Larry’s Restaurant give back to the community: purchase a ticket.
