From School, Staff Reports
Since early January, a remodeling project at the Eupora High School cafeteria has been under way. EHS has plans to install new windows, flooring, a patio, drainage, a lower ceiling and central heat and air conditioning. Several of these tasks have already been completed. The lower ceiling still has to be installed, along with the central air and flooring. The floor tile is expected to be installed soon. It will feature a Eupora High School logo in the center of the floor of the cafeteria. When students, faculty and staff came back to school after Christmas break, they were confronted with a boarded-up cafeteria. The windows were covered by plywood and the cafeteria tile was completely stripped. While the windows were installed, the plywood served as a temporary wall. The concrete for the patio was poured and the land around the patio was smoothed. On Feb. 29, workers removed the temporary wood wall to unveil the new windows. With an April deadline, workers should be finishing up soon. Hooker Construction Co. is the contractor. The county School Board, in November, also awarded a bid for renovations at East Webster Elementary School’s cafeteria.
