A benefit for Sandra Smith will be at 4 p.m. March 17 at the Sherwood Community Center.
Entertainment features Long Way to Go, Josh Buford and others. Boston butts are on sale for $25 (prepaid) and should be picked up from 2 -4 p.m. Plates will be sold at the event also, which will include a cakewalk and other activities.
Benefit program
for MCHS student
A gospel benefit program for Stevelyn “Pooda” Robinson of Winona will be March 17 at 5 p.m. at the Montgomery County Elementary School gym in Kilmichael.
The Montgomery County High School student sustained injuries in a bus accident on Dec. 2 that included a spinal injury and is receiving occupational physical therapy. An account has been set up at Renesant Bank for donations.

St. Patrick’s
Day dance
Joe H. Morehead VFW Post 3806 will be having a dance March 17 following bingo.
The featured band will be Overdrive. The cover charge is $5 at the door and the dance will start around 9 p.m.
Gospel singing
A gospel singing will be at 7 p. m. March 17 at the Stewart Fire Department featuring the Master’s Quartet, Heart’s Desire and Revelations. A love offering will be received for the groups singing.

Center visits
The Mobile WIN Job Center will set up shop from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. March 22 at the former Garan factory on Highway 9 South in Eupora. The mobile unit is a valuable tool for job searches, creating and updating resumes, and other services.
Quick Bite
The Quick Bite program “Tastes of Springs” will be at noon March 22 at the Webster County Extension Office. Call 258-3971 to register.
Ashley Fondren, MSU food science nutrition and health promotion, will help you “pair” foods with herbs, show how to prep and store herbs, and experience the health benefits of cooking with fresh herbs.

The Avery and Hendricks family reunion will be March 25 from 9:30 a.m. until 6 p.m., rain or shine, at the Gore Springs Community Center.

Darlene Wilson
A benefit for cancer patient Darlene Williams Wilson will be March 31 at the Woodmen of the World lodge in Eupora. Activities will begin at 2 p.m., and will include music, food, fellowship and at auction at 5 p.m.

EHS Merit-
Awards Banquet
The Eupora High School Merit-Awards Banquet will be April 17 at 6:30 p.m. in the high school cafeteria. Any organization wishing to make a presentation at the banquet needs to contact the school at 258-4041 no later than April 1.
Computer classes
These classes are being taught at the Webster County Extension Office by John Giesmann, MSU Extension Service. Classes are a limited number so please call 258-3971 to register.
April 2 – Intro To Computer and Microsoft Word (9 a.m.-4 p.m.) Learn the basics of a computer and how to create, save and correct a word document. Cost is $10.
April 3 – Intro to Internet (9 a.m.-noon) Learn how to search, save, and maneuver around the internet. Cost is $5. Intro to Email (1-4 p.m.) Learn how to create, save and organize emails. Cost is $5.
April 4 – Excel (9 a.m.-4 p.m.) Many have asked for this class so here it is. Learn how to create an Excel spreadsheet, create formulas and much more. Cost is $10.
Eupora Lodge #423
Boston butt sale
Eupora Lodge #423 is selling tickets for Boston butts to be picked up at the Eupora Masonic Hall on April 6 from 3-5 p.m. The price for each ticket is $25.

Easter egg hunt
Joe H. Morehead VFW Post 3806 and Ladies Auxiliary will be hosting their annual Easter egg hunt on April 7 at 2 p.m. at the post home located on VFW Road in Eupora.
Each child will receive a prize. Top prizes will be one girls bike and one boys bike. Children must be 12 and under to hunt eggs.
Ladies Auxiliary will be providing refreshments. Please bring your on basket and come enjoy the fun.

Remember or honor an active caregiver or a caregiver who lost a loved one battling cancer by dedicating a sky lantern to be lit during Relay for Life of Webster County.
The suggested donation is $10. Contact any Relay team captain or Carol Hillhouse at 258-8489 or 325-3094.
Sky lanterns also will be available at the survivor tent at the Relay for Life event April 27 at the NMMC-Eupora walking track.
Relay for Life
Join people throughout Webster County and American Cancer Society in the fight against cancer by purchasing a luminaria now in honor or memory of someone who has been touched by cancer.
Luminarias (with the names on them) will line the walking track at North Mississippi Medical Center-Eupora on April 27, the night of Webster County’s fourth Relay for Life.
During the event, all participants will share in the special luminaria ceremony; candles will be lit and names will be called of those for whom luminaries have been purchased.
The cost of each luminaria is $10. Anyone interested in buying one may request an order form at businesses displaying the orange luminaria posters or by calling Frances Hyde at 552-0705. People are encouraged to purchase them early.
City testing
storm sirens
The city of Eupora is testing its severe weather sirens each Saturday at noon through the month of April unless severe weather threatens. The duration of the tests will be approximately two-three minutes.
filing deadline
Deborah Hood Neal, circuit clerk for Webster County, announces that the deadline to qualify for the position of election commissioner, districts 1-5, will be June 4 at 5 p.m.
A person must be a qualified elector in the county and district in which he/she seeks election. Contact the circuit clerk’s office for more information at 258-6287.
Story Hour
Story Hour at the Maben Public Library is every Friday at 10 a.m. Come enjoy stories, music and other fun learning experiences for ages 3 to 6.
AA meetings
Alcoholics Anonymous meets Wednesdays from 7:30-8:30 p.m. and Saturdays from 5-6 p.m. at North Mississippi Medical Center-Eupora in the Education Conference Room.

Story Time
Story Time at Webster County Public Library is every Wednesday at 10 a.m. Children ages 3-6 are invited to come and enjoy stories and activities.

Church News
Bethany Baptist
Bethany Baptist Church will have revival services March 18-20 with Sunday services at 11 a.m. and 5 p.m., and Monday and Tuesday services at 7 p.m.
The Rev. William “Bud” Reaves, a retired minister from New Albany, will be the guest speaker. Kickoff for revival with dinner and a movie (“Courageous”) will be March 17 beginning at 5 p.m.
The church is located at 2225 Reform-Sturgis Road, Choctaw County.
Clarkson Baptist
Clarkson Baptist Church’s children’s ministry will have its second SONLight Festival March 24 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the parking lot of the church.
It will feature booths, food, games, music and Christian fellowship. Providing music will be Souled Out and the Josh Buford Band, as well as the church’s own children and youth.
Proceeds from the festival go toward sending the church’s children to summer camp and to purchase playground equipment. Anyone interested in having a booth at the festival may call Cindy Fowler at 258.9617 or 552.2216.
Lollars Grove
Lollars Grove Baptist Church of Eupora will host a benefit on March 24 for Ronnie and Ginger Golden Welch. Ginger has had heart surgery, and proceeds will go to offset medical costs.
Pulled pork and chicken plates with sides will be sold for donation only, and may be picked up at the church on Lollars Grove Road from 4 till 7 p.m.

Tomnolen Baptist
Tomnolen Baptist Church will be selling hamburger plates on March 24 at 6 p.m. for $5 each. The plates will include a hamburger, chips and a drink.
The cakewalk will begin at 4:30 in the activity building. All proceeds will go to the American Cancer Society to help find a cure for cancer.
Bellefontaine UMC
Bellefontaine United Methodist Church is selling tickets for a steak dinner as part of its Spring Fling Fundraiser.
The steak dinner can be picked up after 4 p.m. March 31 at the church. For the $10 donation, ticketholders will receive a steak, a twice-stuffed baked potato, roll and dessert. And while you are at Bellefontaine UMC picking up supper, check out the arts and crafts available for sale with all the proceeds going to United Methodist connectional missions throughout the state of Mississippi and around the world.
