Webster County Public Library has several new books. “Jack Cristil“ by Sid Salter, “Through my Eyes” by Tim Tebow, “Kill Shot” by Vince Flynn, “Sleepwalker” by Karen Robards, “Explosive Eighteen” by Janet Evanovich, “Kill Alex Cross” by James Patterson and many more. The library also has a collection of DVDs. If you have any DVDs you do not want, consider donating them to the library. You may want to donate new books to the library as memorials to someone. This would be greatly appreciated.
Deborah Hood Neal, circuit clerk for Webster County, announces that the circuit clerk’s office in Walthall will be open from 8 a.m.-noon March 10 for in-office absentee voting for the presidential/congressional primary on March 13.
This is the last day to vote by in-office absentee voting before the primary. Voters that qualify to vote by in-office absentee ballot may also vote today and Friday, 8 a.m. until 5 p.m., in the circuit clerk’s office.

The Webster County Democratic Convention will be March 10 at 10 a.m. at the Courthouse in Walthall.
The Clarkson-Fame Volunteer Fire Department will be having another Brunswick stew fundraiser to raise money for purchase of equipment and maintenance of the department.
The fundraiser will be March 10 from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Donations of ingredients for the stew or monetary donations will be greatly appreciated.
Friends of the Library will have their regular meeting March 12 at the library in Eupora.
Terry Everett, Delta State University poet, will be the guest speaker. Lunch may be purchased for a nominal fee.
A benefit for Sandra Smith will be at 4 p.m. March 17 at the Sherwood Community Center. Entertainment features Long Way to Go, Josh Buford and others. Boston butts are on sale for $25 (prepaid) and should be picked up from 2 -4 p.m. Plates will be sold at the event also, which will include a cakewalk and other activities.

A gospel benefit program for Stevelyn “Pooda” Robinson of Winona will be March 17 at 5 p.m. at the Montgomery County Elementary School gym in Kilmichael.
The Montgomery County High School student sustained injuries in a bus accident on Dec. 2 that included a spinal injury and is receiving occupational physical therapy. An account has been set up at Renesant Bank for donations.

Relay for Life
Join people throughout Webster County and American Cancer Society in the fight against cancer by purchasing a luminaria now in honor or memory of someone who has been touched by cancer.
Luminarias (with the names on them) will line the walking track at North Mississippi Medical Center-Eupora on April 27, the night of Webster County’s fourth Relay for Life.
During the event, all participants will share in the special luminaria ceremony; candles will be lit and names will be called of those for whom luminaries have been purchased.
The cost of each luminaria is $10. Anyone interested in buying one may request an order form at businesses displaying the orange luminaria posters or by calling Frances Hyde at 552-0705. People are encouraged to purchase them early.
The city of Eupora is testing its severe weather sirens each Saturday at noon through the month of April unless severe weather threatens. The duration of the tests will be approximately two-three minutes.

A person must be a qualified elector in the county and district in which he/she seeks election.
